In Las Vegas, unemployment went from 10.4% in April to 11.1% in May, according to the Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation. There are about 155,000 Nevadans out of work. -

Today my wife and I drove over to the West side of Vegas to pickup a dog that had been left behind. His owners lost their home to foreclosure and weren't able to take the dog with them. They liked Summerlin and Southwest Las Vegas so that was the area of our search. I've always felt that words (and images, thoughts, etc.) have so much power and this piece illustrates this aspect on so many levels, above and beyond any explanation I have ever given. -

Happy Friday: Haikus from Lovely Las Vegas
12 Jun 2009 | 6:00 amIn creative mode yesterday, I penned these Las Vegas-inspired haikus, all strung together with pictures from online sources (thanks Wikipedia!) ... It was my first attempt at linking different haikus together, a new style I was exposed to through the lovely works of Kate Smedley, a UK-based Triond writer.
